Position Summary

The Director of Product Strategy in driving the product roadmap and strategy in support of business goals for Rosetta Stone’s existing and emerging global product suite. The ideal candidate is an energetic and creative problem solver who is comfortable working through massive amounts of information and high levels of uncertainty and ambiguity to define and execute key product and business strategies to drive positive business outcomes. She/He is comfortable assisting to define the product strategy, ensuring a world-class customer experience and establishing a differentiated, defensible, scalable position in the industry. She/He will have demonstrated experience supporting product strategy efforts for leading companies. This position is located in Arlington, VA - San Francisco, CA - Austin, TX- or Seattle, WA.

Rosetta Stone is quickly adapting & improving our learning product offerings. To make these changes Rosetta Stone is embarking on some new and exciting challenges. Our newest projects include mobile technologies, cross-platform & multi-screen capabilities, high-scale applications, and projects for curriculum & speech recognition. We are seeking talented people to join our product team.

Responsibilities:

• For every opportunity in the portfolio, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping the product managers and the organization answer the following questions:
1.Exactly what problem will this solve?(value proposition)
2.For whom do we solve that problem?(target market)
3.How big is the opportunity?(market size)
4.What alternatives are out there?(competitive landscape)
5.Why are we best suited to pursue this?(our differentiator)
6.Why now? (market window)
7.How will we get this product to market?(go-to-market strategy)
8.How will we measure success/make money from this product?(metrics/revenue strategy)
9.What factors are critical to success? (solution requirements)
10.Given the above, what’s the recommendation?(go or no-go)
• Assemble product and technology system trends, opportunities, challenges and priorities to help define the technology and product vision
Concurrently, evangelize these trends, opportunities, challenges and priorities across business and technology leadership and ensure their adoption
• Serve as a bridge between business unit executives and product and technology / systems teams to ensure a broad understanding of RST wide business objectives and enable disciplined and proactive decisions regarding product and technology investments to enhance our products
• Monitor, and provide analysis of, competitor and industry developments
• Focus on the customer, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to help deliver a product roadmap that provide Rosetta Stone customers with an unparalleled learning experience
• Conduct financial analysis on new opportunities to set and meet revenue and profit targets, as well as develop annual category plans
• Utilize the above information to assist with the creation and maintenance of a global product roadmap, and act as an advocate of this roadmap in identifying and creating an integrated product, technology and business system roadmap for the company
• Assist with the design and implementation of product technology / system solutions and business process improvements to support current and future strategies, emerging business models and functional requirements
• Assist with the creation of a program to manage RST patent and IP strategy development from a product perspective
• Bring innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing our customer objectives.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the learning technology market for either consumers or institutions
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and feature concepts
• Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
• Ability to communicate clearly and bring clarity to ambiguity
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects cross functionally and build partnerships with other teams to align goals and leverage synergies
• Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical employees
• Demonstrated success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems
• High attention to detail with proven ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proven ability to make smart trade-offs on time-to-market versus features and to respond to competitive threats/opportunities
• Knowledge of or experience working across multiple platforms/applications (Android, PC, Web)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Senior Leadership
Street smarts and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what's necessary to meet team goals
